Privacy Policy

Summary

IdlePlay is a media player for your own servers. It has no accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising. Board Inc operates no servers for IdlePlay and receives no data from the app. Everything IdlePlay stores stays on your device; everything it sends goes only to the media servers you choose.

What IdlePlay stores on your device

• Server connections. Addresses, usernames, passwords and access tokens for the media servers you add (Plex, Jellyfin, SMB, WebDAV), so you do not have to sign in again.
• Preferences. Theme, layout, playback and spatial settings, including the size and position of panels in Full Space.
• Library and playback state. Recently browsed items, your queue, and where you stopped watching.
• Downloads. Videos you choose to download are saved to the folder you pick.

This data is removed when you uninstall IdlePlay or clear its storage in Android Settings.

What IdlePlay sends, and to whom

• Your media servers. IdlePlay contacts only the servers you configure, to sign in, list libraries, fetch artwork, stream video and report playback progress. Those servers are operated by you, and their own privacy terms apply.
• Local network discovery. To find servers on your network, IdlePlay broadcasts discovery requests on your local network only.

IdlePlay contacts no other services. It does not use Firebase, Google Analytics, Crashlytics, TMDB, OMDB or any other third-party service.

What IdlePlay does not collect

• No account, name, email or phone number
• No location data
• No contacts, photos or files, beyond the media folders you choose
• No advertising identifiers
• No analytics or usage tracking
• No crash reports sent anywhere
• Nothing is sold or shared with third parties

Permissions and why they are needed

• Internet, network state — reach your media servers.
• Wi-Fi state, Wi-Fi multicast — discover servers on your local network.
• Scene understanding (coarse) — place panels against walls and surfaces in Full Space. The headset reports flat surfaces to the app; no camera images, room scans or spatial data leave your device, and IdlePlay stores only an anchor reference on the device.

Children

IdlePlay is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at https://idleplay.dev/privacy with a new effective date.
